HMS Ganymede (1809)

HMS Ganymede was a British prison hulk which was moored in Chatham Harbour in Kent, England. HMS ''Ganymede'' was the former French 450 ton frigate ''Hébé'' (20 guns, pierced for 34), which, under command of Lieutenant Bretonneuire, was captured by the British frigate ''Loire'' on 6 February 1809 while enroute from Bordeaux to San Domingo, carrying 600 barrels of flour.〔The Gentleman's Magazine: and Historical Chronicle for the year 1809, p.168〕〔Report of her capture by Captain Schomberg, commanding the Loire, 11 Feb 1809, in the London Gazette no.16228 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/16228/page/193/data.pdf〕 Renamed ''Ganymede'', she served with the Royal Navy before being decommissioned.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Naval Database )〕 She was converted to a prison hulk in 1819 and broken up in 1838.
